Accessibility statement

Our commitment

This site is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. The women this site is for are between 40 and 70, and a site that is hard to read or hard to operate is a site that fails them.

What we have built in

• A skip link to main content as the first focusable element on every page
• Semantic landmarks, a single H1 per page, and a logical heading order
• Text and background colour pairings verified at a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1
• A large base type size — 18px on desktop, 17px on mobile — and line lengths kept under 70 characters
• Visible focus indicators on every interactive element
• Touch targets of at least 44×44 pixels
• A visible label on every form field, with errors announced and tied to their field via aria-describedby
• Accordions built on the native <details> element, so they work without JavaScript
• A fully keyboard-operable symptom checker
• Respect for prefers-reduced-motion, with all transitions disabled when it is set
• No horizontal scrolling down to a 360px viewport width
• Text that reflows and remains usable at 200% zoom

Testing

We test with automated tooling (axe) as part of our build checks, and with keyboard-only navigation. Automated tools catch a minority of accessibility problems, so we also review manually.

Known limitations

• The symptom checker requires JavaScript, because all processing happens in your browser rather than on a server. Where JavaScript is unavailable, the page explains this and offers alternatives.
• "Get directions" links open Google Maps, which is a third-party service we do not control.
• PLACEHOLDER: photographs are not yet in place. Every image will carry descriptive alternative text, and decorative images will be hidden from assistive technology.
